How Do You Replace The Dog Ears On A Washing Machine Agitator?
Washing machines clean your clothes by spinning, or agitating, them in the wash basin. The device doing this agitating is called, naturally enough, the agitator. Modern washing machines use a twist on the agitator by including extra spinning blades called dog ears. These give the agitator added boost, getting clothes cleaner than before. Occasionally, however, these dog ears wear out. In that case, you’ll have to replace the dog ears on your washing machine agitator. Unplug the washer from the electrical outlet. Open the washer hood to expose the tub and agitator. Twist the top of the agitator off in a counterclockwise motion. If this doesn’t work, take a close look at the top of the agitator and find a thin line where the top of the agitator cap meets the agitator body. Press the flat end of a large screwdriver blade against this and gently pry off the cap. Remove the agitator bolt.
