However, there are a few items to consider and understand as you undertake this task on your Nissan Maxima. Put a bucket with a capacity of least 2 gallons under the radiator drain plug. On most models of the Nissan Maxima, you’ll find the plug on the bottom passenger side of the radiator, so you may have to jack up the vehicle to access it easily. Loosen the drain plug to allow the coolant to flow into the bucket. You can complete this replacement without draining the radiator, but it’s more cumbersome and messier.
