All it takes to replace the valve cartridge on a Moen single handle shower faucet is a pair of pliers and a screwdriver. There are several models of Moen faucets but regardless of the model or age of your faucet the instructions to remove a valve cartridge are standard. The valve cartridge is easily accessible once the handle is removed. The valve can be removed from the cartridge but because they functions as a single unit the entire valve cartridge assembly is sold as one piece as a replacement part.
