The brake light bulbs on your Lincoln Mark VIII are located in the lid of your vehicle’s trunk. Replacing the burned-out bulb is a matter of taking out the neon parking/stop lamp in the trunk lid to get to the bulbs. You can replace the bulbs in less than half and hour. Open the trunk lid of your Lincoln Mark VIII and locate the push pins in the trim panel on the underside of the lid. There should be about 14 push pins. Unfasten each of the push pins in the trim panel and remove the panel from the vehicle. Set the panel in a place where it will remain safe and not get damaged. Disconnect the electrical ballast connector plug from the neon parking/stop lamp. The connector should pull straight out without any tools needed. Unfasten the retaining nuts from the neon parking/stop lamp to disconnect the lamp from the trunk lid. Hold the center of the lamp at the top and gently push in to dislodge the lamp from the lid.
