Whether you use in-line skates for recreation, fitness or hockey, changing bearings is an inevitable task. The tiny steel circles on the inside of the wheels are responsible for how fast and how smoothly the wheels turn, so changing them up, either because of damage or as an upgrade to bearings with a higher Annular Bearing Engineers Committee rating, is paramount to keeping the skates in workable shape. Wipe off the axles with the cloth to remove any dirt or grime, then use the Allen wrench to loosen the axle of the front wheel. Slide out the axle pieces and set aside. Insert the bearing tool (or another similar tool should one not be available) and pull out the bearing, then do the same for the other side of the wheel. Discard the old bearings. Dab the new bearing with the bearing lube oil and press it into the wheel hole until firm. Wipe away any excess oil. Do the same for the opposite side of the wheel.
