People living in rural areas often don’t have utilities such as water readily available. They are required to use a well for their water needs. No matter how well maintained the well and its components are, items such as submersible pumps need to be replaced every so often. It is a lot of work, but confident do-it-yourself types can save thousands of dollars by tackling the problem themselves. Remove the old pump with its supplied safety rope and a tripod and pulley system. Determine if the item needs to be replaced by wiring the old pump to a power source directly. Verify if the pump is bad or just the wire that ran down in to the well. Make sure the new pump to be purchased is the same by checking the type and model listed on the old pump.
