Sand filters use special sand media that filters out dirt, debris and algae from the water keeping your pool water crystal clear. As the sand media gets dirty, the efficiency of the pool filter begins to drop, and the sand will need to be replaced with clean sand. Hayward Sand Filter series 240 makes replacing sand and maintaining your filter an easy process with their instructions and user-friendly features. Turn off power to the pool pump by disconnecting the electrical cord from the outlet. Locate the flange clamp on top of the Hayward Sand filter. Use a wrench to loosen the clamp, once loosened remove the filter control valve. Refer to your owner’s manual if necessary. Close the outlet valve on the pool pump.
