Although the 2001 Hyundai Elantra has different styles of taillight assemblies for the hatchback and sedan models, the procedure to replace the turn signal light is the same. In addition, both styles of the model employ the same turn signal bulb part number. Performing the repair yourself takes about 10 minutes. Open the trunk or the hatch of the Hyundai Elantra. Pull back the liner on the sedan model and then remove the two retaining screws on the cover panel with a Phillips screwdriver. Both models will feature the cover panel, but the sedan is the only one that features the liner. Remove the cover panel.
