Hayward pool products offers a wide range of sand filters that use special sand media to catch dirt, debris and algae as the water passes through it. Overtime, the sand will become dirty and need to be replaced. Disconnect the power to the pool pump by turning the circuit breaker off or unplugging the electrical cord from the outlet. Locate the flange clamp located on the top of the Hayward filter. Use a wrench to loosen the clamp. Remove the filter control valve to reveal the inside of the filter.
