How Do You Replace Home Air Conditioning Thermostats?

0

Central heat and air is a luxury that most Americans don’t like to go without, especially in sweltering summer months. As with all electronic appliances, repair and maintenance is often required to keep them running at optimum performance. Replacing the thermostat control for an air conditioning unit is often a task most homeowners perform once or twice in their lives. Replacing or upgrading your thermostat can also decrease your energy costs. Use a few basic tools to replace a thermostat. Turn off the air conditioning unit, and flip the A/C units corresponding circuit breaker to the off position. Ensure that no power is running to the unit. Use a live wire meter or tester to ensure that the power is off. Remove the cover of the thermostat and set it aside. This cover usually snaps into place and is easily removed. Unscrew the thermostat from the wall and pull slightly to get the wires into a workable position. The wires may only protrude from the wall a few inches. Disconnect the wire
