How Do You Replace Drop Ceiling Panels?
Drop ceilings generally use 2-by-2-foot square tiles or 2-by-4-foot tiles. These are lightweight and easy to remove and/or replace. Standard tile replacement is quite easy, but replacing tiles in oddly shaped areas or around columns or other items can be slightly more challenging. It still remains a job most anyone can accomplish without difficulty. Remove the old or damaged tiles. If replacing the tiles in an entire room, begin by removing only the full tiles, leaving all modified tiles in place. Raise up on the tile, turn it at a slight angle, and slide it down through the gridwork. Reverse this process to put a new tile into place. Make certain the tile sits squarely in the gridwork. Remove the oddly shaped tiles. These are around columns, ductwork, or an odd-size row against an outer wall. Attempt to keep the tiles intact, removing them one at a time.
