How Do You Replace Cracked Swimming Pool Tiles?
A cracked pool tile is both unsightly and dangerous to your swimmers. Allowing a cracked tile to not be repaired can cause water to seep into your pool’s support structure, causing costly damage. Swimmers can cut themselves on sharp edges caused by the continuous chipping of the tiles. Repairing a pool tile can be done in a weekend and does not require any special equipment. Drain the water level of the pool to below the location of the cracked tile. For tiles located on the bottom of the pool you will need to fully drain the water. Allow the area to fully dry before beginning work on the tile replacement. Remove the cracked tile with a hammer and a chisel. Use the tools to break any remaining bits of the tile away from the area. Smooth out the surface by chipping away at the grout that held the tile in place.
