Cut out the grout around the piece of tile you want to remove (use a utility knife or hammer and chisel). This will enable you to remove a single piece without the grout causing other neighboring pieces to come loose. Use the hammer and chisel to work your way into the center of the piece you want to remove. Chisel the piece off of the wall, working your way out from the center of your starting point, using light pressure to avoid damaging the substrate behind the tile.
