How Do You Replace An Oreck Vacuum Belt?
When a belt goes out on a vacuum, it’s usually obvious–first the smell of burning rubber and then the machine becomes difficult to maneuver. If a belt breaks in half during operation, you’ll probably hear a loud noise. Although there are numerous Oreck models available, changing the belt is relatively the same on all vacuums. The replacement process should take no more than 15 to 20 minutes. Flip the vacuum over and unplug it from the electrical outlet. Orecks have replacement belts supplied on the underside, so remove the new belt. Turn the Oreck back over so it is right side up again. Orecks have been designed with the belt on the side of the power head. Use your screwdriver to remove the hold-down screw. Then slide the door forward; you may have to pry it a bit with the screwdriver to loosen it. Grasp the belt and remove it from the brush and drive shaft.
