How Do You Replace An Electrical Wall Switch?

No need for a costly electrician when you have the tools and know how to do it your self!!! Buy the tools you need from your local hardware store. Also buy the switch you are replacing, take into count the color and style. there are standard flip switches and the fancy lower profile flip switches. Ok once you have the tools and the parts I recommend turning off the power to that room or switch at the breaker panel. Verify the power is off to that switch so reduce the risk of electric shock. The switch plate cover should be held in place by 1 flat tip screw or a Philips head screw. This does depend on the style switch how ever. Once the switch plate has been removed the actual switch should be in view. Again with the power to that switch off at the main breaker panel remove the Philips head screws that hold the switch in to the switch box. The switch will pull out of the box several inches, depending on the length of the wires. Look at the new switch and the screws that hold the wires t
