How Do You Replace An Electric Hot Water Heater Element In An RV?

0

RVs, like houses, come with water heaters that provide hot water for cooking, cleaning and bathing. Without a heating element in the water heater, one of the most sought-after luxuries of owning an RV disappears. However, these elements work much like light bulbs and are easy to replace. Locate the A/C wiring to the heater and disconnect. Check the element for continuity with the volt ohm-meter. Replace the element if it is burned out by disconnecting the element and unscrewing the four screws holding it in. Use the special heating element tool if it is the other type of element that requires a special removal kit. These are sold at RV supply stores and vary based on models. Replace the element and screw back in.
