How Do You Replace Accessory Fan Assembly On 2000 VW Golf TDI?
A common problem on high mileage VW Golf and Jetta TDI’s is a defective accessory fan assembly (they use two (2). A defectuve fan is easily replaced by an owner by putting into practice the steps described below. Fixing-it-yourself can save big MONEY on professional repairs. Place the Golf or Jetta TDI’s on ramps or a lifting device. Raise the vehicle to a safe working height. Place a wheel chock at the rear wheels. Using a small flat-blade screwdriver, remove three (3) nut covers on top of engine cover. Using a 10mm nut driver or 1/4-inch square drive 10mm socket and 1/4-inch square drive ratchet, remove three (3) nuts securing the top engine cover. Remove the vacuum hose from bracket at back of top engine cover. Remove the oil dip stick and set aside.
