How Do You Replace A Window Lift Motor On A GM?

0

Most GM window motors can be replaced without removing the window regulators. The window regulator is the apparatus used to convert the rotating motion of the window motor into the up-and-down motion of the window. One type of window regulators prohibits the removal of the window motor while still cased in the door: the “scissors” type mechanism. This mechanism uses a strong helper spring to lift the window. Remove the two screws in the armrest using the Phillips screwdriver. Remove the cover concealing the inside attachment point for the side-view mirror. Remove the screw from the cover in front of the inside door handle if present, and remove any screws located on the sides of the door panel. GMs use trim fasteners–pieces of plastic shaped like a bolt, with serrations where the threads would be. To remove these, simply slide the common screwdriver between the door panel and the door and pry them out of their respective recess. Disconnect all electrical connectors from the door panel
