Buick automobiles are manufactured with electric power windows, which use a motorized window regulator to raise or lower the glass inside its doors. This motor can wear out, and require replacement. The average backyard mechanic can replace a power window motor in a Buick in about 30 minutes. Disconnect the battery by turning the positive terminal bolt counterclockwise. Place the terminal away from the battery. Remove the power window switches by prying the edge loose with a screwdriver, then pulling the switches away from the door. Disconnect the wiring harness from the switch assembly by pulling the adapter plug apart. Remove the door panel by turning the interior door handle screw counterclockwise. Turn the armrest bolts counterclockwise, if applicable, and remove them. Tug on the edges of the door panel to disengage the pop rivets that hold it to the metal.
