Replacing your Whirlpool dryer motor involves simple tools such as flathead and Phillips screwdrivers and a time commitment of approximately 45 minutes. Step 1 Lift your Whirlpool dryer’s lint trap cover and, taking your Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two screws holding the lint trap housing in place. Put the screws somewhere safe. Lift out the lint trap and the lint trap housing and place with the two screws you just removed. Lift up the top panel of your dryer and rest it on the control panel. Step 2 Unscrew the two screws on the inside top of the front dryer panel. Place the screws safely. Lift the front dryer panel and pull forward. Set the panel aside away from your working area.
