The average washing machine uses a spin belt that transfers the power from the motor to the transmission to pump water in and out of the machine and runs the spin cycle. If your washing machine’s belt is broken, it still may sound like the washing machine is working, but you will be able to tell quickly that no water is being pushed in or out of the machine. If your belt is worn or loosened for any reason, it is likely that your washing machine will work on occasion or will make screeching noises throughout the length of the cycle.
