How Do You Replace A Sledge Hammer Handle?
Sledge hammers are high-impact tools. Over time, continual striking motions will cause most handles to break or loosen. The good news is it not expensive to replace a handle, with kits ranging from $9-20. Replacing the Handle Step 1 Take old sledge hammer head and give it a good cleaning with soap and water. A clean surface will provide the best adhesion. Step 2 Take new handle and insert the handle core (the skinny end) into the eyehole of head. On concrete or similar surface, strike until the handle core is through the head and flush. Iif it cannot be made flush, sand or saw off the remainder. Place caulking cord around the insertion point of the handle into the head; this will prevent epoxy from running out). Step 3 Mix epoxy well and then fill in space between the handle core and head. Let epoxy cure for one week before use.
