Porch columns can add a majestic look to your porch, but they are also there for a reason. Porch columns support the weight of your porch roof so that rain and snow won’t bring it down on top of you and your family. Those same elements can cause damage to your column. When a porch column has been outside for many years with wind, rain and insects, eventually the column may start to rot. If that happens, you should replace your column as quickly as possible.
