How Do You Replace A Motor Coupling On A Kenmore Washing Machine?
The Kenmore brand of washing machines is part of the Whirlpool line and uses many of the same mechanical designs and parts. Because the coupler is constantly moving during the operation of the washing machine, the part can wear out or break, requiring replacement. Unplug the electrical cord of the Kenmore washing machine from the electrical outlet before attempting to replace the motor coupling. Turn off the water supply at the valves on the wall behind the washer and locate the screws on each side of the control console at the back of the washer top. Unfasten the screws on the console with a screwdriver and flip the control console back so it is resting on the rear hinges. Slide a screwdriver under the metal clips at the back of the washer top underneath the control console and lift the clips with the screwdriver.
