How Do You Replace A Line Voltage Thermostat?
Line voltage thermostats control the temperature in your home the same way low voltage thermostats do. Line voltage thermostats are commonly associated with baseboard heaters and other electric heaters. Low voltage thermostats are seen with furnaces and HVAC units. Line voltage thermostats utilize 110 volts of power while low voltage ones use 24 volts. It is actually fairly easy to replace a line voltage thermostat since it uses less wires than the low voltage kind. All you need are simple hand tools and a little bit of time. Turn the power off to the line voltage thermostat by turning off the correct breaker in the circuit breaker panel. Remove the thermostat cover by grasping the cover at the top and pulling gently off the thermostat body. Unscrew the thermostat body from the electrical box and disconnect all electrical connections from the thermostat.
