How Do You Replace A Ford Power Steering Pump?
Replacing the power steering pump on your Ford is not difficult to do. On Ford models the placement of the power steering pump is commonly on the driver’s side connected to the engine’s back wall. This process will only take about 15 minutes. You can replace the power steering pump in your driveway or garage with only a few common tools available at any auto parts or hardware store. Open the hood of the Ford. Locate the power steering pump connected to the back wall in the engine compartment. The power steering pump will have a black cap on the top of the container. The black cap will have “Power Steering Fluid” stamped at the top. Place a large cup underneath the power steering pump to catch the power steering fluid that you will be draining out of the pump. Remove the nut at the bottom of the pump that secures the hose to the bottom of the power steering pump. Use pliers to remove the nut.
