Measure the outside of the window frame horizontally and vertically. Consider choosing tax-deductible Energy Star windows that will reduce your heating and cooling bill. Remove the caulk and exterior trim. Cut the caulking around the outside edge of your window on the interior and exterior of your house. This will prevent the exterior trim and interior wall from getting ripped up when you pull the window out. Pull off the trim boards that surround the window on the outside of your house.
