The crank positioning sensor is located on the engine block of the 1994 Buick Regal Grand Sport. It is on the passenger’s side in the lower part of the engine just above the crankshaft pulley. When the sensor goes bad, the car will be hard to start or will stall for no apparent reason. When it is completely dead, the car won’t start at all. You can save some money by doing the repair right in your own driveway. Disconnect the negative battery terminal by loosening the bolt with a wrench. Detach the electrical wire to the crank positioning sensor by unplugging it. Rotate the harmonic balancer with a ratchet and socket until an opening appears at the crank sensor. Loosen the pinch bolt on the crank sensor pedestal until the position sensor is free to slide then remove the pedestal from the engine mounting bolts. Remove the sensor and pedestal as a unit.
