The HP VP6310 is a digital home theater projector that produces better picture quality than its older-model, rear-projection counterparts. Part of the reason for this superior picture is the color wheel sensor located in the interior of the device. If the color has gone out on your projector, chances are that you need to replace the color wheel. To do this, you need to access the internal components of your projector. Turn off the projector and remove the power cable. Remove any connector cables running to the back of the device. Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove all screws from the top and sides of the projector. Then gently lift the top plastic frame off of the device. Locate the lamp in the middle of the device. It is housed in a large, black, plastic, cube-shaped frame. Use your screwdriver to remove the screws on each corner of the lamp housing.
