How Do You Replace A Ceiling-Mounted Pull-Chain Light Fixture?
Pull-chain light fixtures are single-bulb fixtures and commonly are found in closets, basements or other unfinished areas. The light is turned on by pulling the chain found on the fixture. Pulling the chain again turns the fixture off. Over time, the pull chain may begin to wear out and fail to turn the light on or off. If this happens, you will need to replace the fixture to restore normal operation. Turn off the power to the light fixture. Unscrew the two screws that hold the fixture to the electrical box. Uncoil the wiring to gain access to the back of the fixture. Place one lead of the voltage tester on each screw to double-check that the power is off. Unscrew the black and white wires from the old pull-chain fixture, and discard the fixture. Connect the black wire to one terminal on the new light fixture, and tighten the screw. Connect the white wire to one terminal on the new fixture and tighten the screw. Fold the wires carefully, and push the fixture up to the electrical box. S
