How Do You Replace A Car Exhaust Pipe?
Whether caused by moisture, road salt or just old age, chances are you’ve had to replace your vehicle’s exhaust pipe at least once. If you don’t want to take your car to a garage, follow these simple guidelines to replace your car’s exhaust pipe yourself. Verify that the problem(s) you are experiencing with your vehicle is due to your exhaust pipe. Consult your owner’s manual or your local auto parts store to be sure you have the correct exhaust pipe for your vehicle. Secure your vehicle with ramps and/or jacks before you begin to replace the car’s exhaust pipe. Remove your car’s old exhaust pipe by releasing the clamp at the end of the header pipe. Use an impact gun or some WD-40 to loosen any stubborn rusted bolts. Sometimes you might need to use both. Pull the exhaust pipe’s bottom out about ½ inch.
