If you own a band saw, you have probably cut yourself a time or two while replacing the blade. Replacing a band saw blade can be difficult and dangerous. However, with a little practice, some easy safety precautions and a few simple steps, you can master this task. Then you will be able to safely and easily replace your band saw blade whenever necessary. Turn off the band saw’s power. Put on eye protection and a thick pair of gloves. Open the doors on the saw to gain access to the blade. Loosen the upper and lower band saw blade guides. Release the tension on the band saw blade. Carefully remove the blade from the band saw. Wrap the band saw blade and tie it closed. To install the new band saw blade, raise the upper guide bushing to the top. Cut the quick ties while holding the band saw blade to keep it from uncoiling. Toss the rolled blade into your yard and let the blade unroll itself. Make sure you do this step in the yard, or you may damage the teeth on the blade. Pick up the blade
