How Do You Repair XLR Microphone Cables?
XLR cables deliver quality sound to professionals in the television and audio production industries. Without proper care and repair, XLR cables that become damaged or worn can affect the quality of the sound for the particular production. Step 1 Determine which connector you need to repair. Unscrew the three screws on the outside of the connector to remove the outer case. Step 2 Identify which of the three wires is in need of repair. The three wires that you’re looking at are the ground, red wire and blue wire. The two non-ground wires may be different colors depending on the brand of XLR you’re repairing. Step 3 Use a soldering iron to solder the wire in need of repair to the proper pin. Reassemble the case and reattach the three screws on the outer case. Step 4 Test the cable to ensure that it’s receiving good audio quality.
