How Do You Repair Termite Damage In Oak Flooring?
Termites are about the size of grains of rice, but they can do major damage to your oak floors. Check for termites by tapping on the floorboards with a hammer, listening carefully. The infected boards will have a hollow sound. Most oak flooring repairs are not too difficult, but replacing several boards can be a bit of a challenge. Remove obviously termite-damaged sections of floorboard with a chisel. This will show you the extent of the damage. If the damaged area does not consist of entire boards, proceed with Step 2. If the damage is greater, go to Step 5. Fill any small repair sections with wood filler. Try to completely fill the holes, making sure there are no air bubbles. Allow to dry thoroughly.
