How Do You Repair Scratches In A Marble Top?
If you have a solid marble countertop or tabletop, you’re probably going to notice scratches sooner or later from daily use. Marble, despite its beauty and popularity as a building material, is a notoriously soft stone that can scratch easily. The good news is the scratches usually buff out. It’s best to start with the least-intrusive approach to buffing and work your way to more drastic measures as necessary. Start by trying to wet buff out the scratches. Sometimes, that’s all it takes. Because marble picks up colors that are rubbed into it, choose your cleaning cloth carefully. Use a soft cloth (white for light-colored countertops and black for dark ones), and wet it with warm water. Don’t wring it out. Add a dab of degreasing dishwashing liquid and work up some suds. Set the soapy cloth on the scratched area and begin buffing in a quick, circular motion. Apply firm pressure with your fingertips, rubbing directly on each scratch. If wet buffing with soap doesn’t work, try dry buffing
