When the gel coat finish of a fiberglass part becomes scratched, it can easily be repaired using a gel-coat paste. Gel-coat paste is the consistency of putty and is applied the same way. This will completely repair any scratches in the finish of fiberglass. Step 1 Fold a sheet of 100-grit sandpaper in half . Then, using the edge of the crease, lightly sand the inside of the scratch.
