How Do You Repair Scratched Wood Floors With Sanding?
Wood floors are beautiful, but they get scratches with regular use that really stand out. Scratches are visible but not too deep, and thus relatively easy to repair. Gouges, on the other hand, are deeper and usually cannot be repaired as easily. If you only have minor scratches to repair, while it may seem like a huge undertaking, it is relatively simple and can be done yourself. Lightly rub the fine steel wool over the scratch on the hardwood flooring along the grain of the wood. If the scratch is slightly deeper and the fine steel wool isn’t doing much, use the lightweight sandpaper and sand the scratch along the grain of the wood. Put mineral spirits on a towel or cloth, and rub it over the area of the scratch to smooth it out and remove sanding debris.
