How Do You Repair Scratched Plastic Surfaces?
Most plastic is strong and durable. This is true especially hard plastic like that on a patio table or chair or an interior car door. But even strong plastic can become scratched from frequent use. If you’ve noticed scratches on your plastic furniture or other items, you can repair the surfaces with plastic filler. Step 1 Clean the plastic surface with 1/8 cup dishwashing soap and warm water mixed in a bucket. Wipe down the plastic surface, especially around the scratch. Step 2 Apply the plastic filler to the scratches on the plastic surface with a 2-inch putty knife. Smooth out the plastic filler on each individual scratch with the putty knife. Make sure you fill in the entire length of each scratch. Step 3 Remove all excess plastic filler from around the scratches with the edge of the putty knife. Trim the filler from the edges of each scratch, and lift off the excess with your fingers. Let the filler set for 24 hours. Step 4 Smooth each scratch with coarse 60-grit sandpaper. Smooth
