Rust is a common issue in swimming pools, so do not be surprised if you happen to see rust formation along the pool walls and around metal pool parts. The causes can be dried up debris or even having an excessive amount of metal, such as iron or copper, in the pool water. Acid washing is one of the best ways to remove these rust stains for good. Remove the hydrostatic drain plugs, and rinse out the pool. Use the spray nozzle on the hose to help push loose dirt and debris to the bottom center of the pool. Pick up the debris and place it in garbage bags for easy disposal. Put on all safety gear for the remainder of the project. Remove the spray nozzle from the hose, and then lay the hose on the edge of the pool wall. Move it around the perimeter of the pool every 10 seconds or so, that way the entire pool becomes wet.
