How Do You Repair & Prevent Wood Rot?
“Hi, I’m James with JNC Home Repair, today we’re going to show you how to prevent and repair rotten wood. Some basic tools and materials you’re going to need for this job. You’re going to need some basic wood filler, OKay? You want to make sure that it’s rated for interior/exterior, and also if it’s paintable and stainable. If you’re planning on painting or staining whatever you’re preparing later. This is another product, here, it’s all purpose putty. This stuff is going to dry a lot harder and and it’s probably going to last a lot longer than your standard wood filler. This is a two step process, it’s a little bit more involved as far as using this product, but this is a good product. You’re going to need, basically, like a razor knife, a five-in-one tool, and a wire brush. OKay? The first thing you want to do is, wherever your damaged area is, you want to go ahead and use your scraper, or your five-in-one, and you want to go ahead and clean out all that damaged wood.
