How Do You Repair Paint Peeling From Masonry And Brick?
Paint peeling from masonry and brick is usually caused by moisture entering from the outside. Be sure to have proper water drainage around your house before doing any inside repairs. Check the outside perimeter of your home for water drainage. Repair any outside cracks in the foundation by wire brushing or scraping and sealing with masonry patching compound before proceeding to the inside of the house. Paint a moisture barrier paint over the repaired area and beyond to be sure there are no other places for moisture to enter. Check the basement for any moisture damage to the walls. Remove all flaking or chalking paint from the damaged area by wire brushing and scraping. Fill all cracks with masonry patching compound. Brush on a coat of latex house or moisture resistant paint to prevent any further moisture incursion.
