How Do You Repair Holes In Drywall Using Backer Board?

0

There are several different ways you can fix small holes in drywall, but what about the larger ones? With larger holes you will want to have a good secure patch job by using something that is strong yet unnoticeable. Holes in drywall are really not that hard to fix, even the really big ones. Here’s a trick using backer boards for support. Measure your wall hole. This is to get an accurate measurement of how much drywall you will need to cut as a patch. Cut the drywall patch 1 inch larger on all sides than the actual wall hole size. While centering this patch over the hole, take pencil to trace this square or rectangular figure onto the wall. You are going to cut this section of wall out with your saw. Get rid of all the uneven or hanging pieces. Apply backer boards. Put construction adhesive on the ends of the boards. Place them sideways behind the hole. One will be near the top and one will be near the bottom but still centered enough to be supportive. Screw boards to the wall, 1 inch
