How Do You Repair Hard Drive Problems With CHKDSK?
Computer hard drives store the data necessary to run a computer. As data is copied to and from drives and deleted from drives, they may encounter a variety of problems that can affect their function. Microsoft’s Windows operating systems include a utility called Chksdk. According to Microsoft, Chkdsk can repair problems related to bad sectors, lost clusters, cross-linked files and directory errors on a hard drive. Click “Start,” “My Computer,” then right-click on the hard disk that you want to check. Select “Properties,” “Tools,” then “Check Now.” A window will open showing Chkdsk options.
