How Do You Repair Faded Plastic Headlights?
Faded plastic headlights don’t look good from inside or outside the vehicle. On the outside, it detracts from the vehicle’s appearance–making it look worn. From the inside, it can affect brightness when it’s needed the most–at nightfall. Rather than replacing your old headlights with new ones, which would be more expensive, do this simple repair at home. Step 1 Soak one piece each of 800-, 1,500- and 2,500-grit sandpaper in water for about 10 minutes. Step 2 Use the 800-grit sandpaper first and gently rub the entire lens, making sure to keep the lens wet while sanding. Step 3 Use the 1,500- and 2,500-grit sandpaper in the same manor. Step 4 Dry the lenses with a clean, dry, soft cloth. Step 5 Apply UV inhibitor coating/protectant purchased from any local auto shop by allowing it to sit on a clean cloth for several minutes before wiping it gently onto the lenses.
