How Do You Repair Exterior Cracks In Concrete Foundations?
Repairing an exterior foundation wall is difficult, tricky and time-consuming work. It may be faster and easier to call a contractor, especially if the damage is extensive. If you only have a few smaller cracks to fix, however, you can do it yourself with a good attitude and enough free time. Dig a deep trench along the side of the foundation that has the cracks. Dig down past the cracks to the base of the foundation. This way, you will have access to the cracks and be able to prevent future leaking as well. Locate the cracks. If they are larger than 1 inch, this could mean your house or building has serious structural problems. If this is the case, it would be best to call a contractor as soon as possible. If this is not the case, proceed with the following steps. Create a dry mixture of concrete plaster. It should be so dry that small flecks of dry plaster are present in it. Insert as much plaster into the cracks as you can fit. Really pack it in until there is no room for any more.
