Polymer concrete is a relatively new invention. While traditional concrete is made from Portland cement, sand, gravel and water, this new version replaces the cement with chemical compounds called polymers. This new material offers several distinct advantages over traditional concrete. It is quick drying, versatile, and is able to expand and contract over time to accomodate temperature changes. If your concrete floors suffer from cracks, using polymer compounds is an excellent way to patch them. Chip away any loose concrete or gravel in the crack using your hammer and chisel. Remove and dispose of the debris, then sweep the crack with a wire brush to remove any remaining dirt or dust. Wet the crack thoroughly using a spray bottle full of water.
