How Do You Repair Cracks In Plastic?
Plastic is a very durable substance, but it can’t withstand everything. There are times when you find that one of your plastic containers, toys, outdoor chairs, or other household item has a crack in it. You may think you have to throw this item away, but you don’t. There are a few tricks you can use to repair the cracks in your plastic items. Step 1 Hold the flame from a lighter up to the crack in the plastic. Watch for the plastic to start to melt a bit. When it does, remove the flame and use the popsicle stick to smooth the two sides of the crack back in to one piece. Make sure you do this on both sides. It may not make the plastic look pretty, but it will close up the crack. Step 2 Buy a bottle of Tenax-7 R (see resources). This liquid welds plastic together. Apply the liquid directly to the crack with a small paint brush. Wait for it to dry and your item will be ready to use. This product costs between $3 to $4.
