How Do You Repair Ceramic Tiles With Mortar?

0

Ceramic tile is a sturdy and beautiful floor covering. However, ceramic tile can still become chipped, cracked and broken. When this happens, homeowners either try to repair the ceramic tiles or replace the entire floor for many times the cost of a repair job. With a little bit of work, a few new tiles and mortar, repairing ceramic tiles is easy. Use a grout saw or, if the grout line is small, utility knife to cut the grout surrounding the cracked or chipped tile. Remove the damaged tile by placing a masonry chisel near one of the corners and tapping the chisel with a hammer. Once the corner is removed, use the chisel to finish removing the damaged tile. Soak the dried thinset with water for approximately 15 minutes. This will help to loosen the thinset so it can be easily removed. Mix the thinset mortar per manufacturer directions and apply it to the floor. First use the flat edge of the trowel, then the notched edge to remove the excess. Place the tile directly on top of the thinset
