How Do You Repair Broken Guitar Necks?

Nothing can be worse for a guitarist than finding his guitar has fallen off of its stand and the neck has split. Most of the time when this happens, the split is directly where the headstock meets the neck and, fortunately, this is an easy repair that can be done in a day with the right tools. Moisten one of the paper towels and wet the wood on each side of the split so that when clamped the two glued sides press together. Apply the glue to the split on the neck following the directions on the glue package. Gorilla Glue expands when it is drying and curing, so be cautious not to use too much. Place another paper towel over the guitar’s neck. This will prevent the clamp from becoming glued to the guitar if any glue seeps out while drying. Apply the clamp to the guitar neck over the paper towel and compress the clamp as much as possible to ensure that the neck will be mended properly and tightly. Let the glue dry for 24 hours and then remove the clamp and paper towel.
