Hail can cause severe damage to your car. It most often damages the roof, hood and trunk areas. Learn how to repair automobile hail damage yourself and save a lot of money. Step 1 Begin repairs by grinding the paint out from each dent caused by hail. Grind enough to remove all paint and primer and get down to the bare metal. Do this inside and about an inch or two around the dent. Step 2 Apply body filler to each dent using a plastic squeegee. Fill the dents so that the filler is above the surface of the car. Allow an hour for the filler to dry. Step 3 Use a dual-action sander and 120-grit sandpaper to sand the filler smooth.
